Josie had lost so much. Almost more than she could bear. Little Rose, her niece, brightened her days but the child's presence in her life also marked some of the loss. She knew they needed a fresh start. But what about her father? The shell of a man who almost never spent any time with them because he was always working would be alone if she left him behind. She didn't have the heart for that.
Harrison Tanner wasn't the typical Montana ranch owner. He wasn't insensitive or callous. In fact, he longed for a wife and a houseful of children. He wanted companionship and he wanted love. He wasn't too macho to admit any of that. He was truly a nice man. He was eager to meet Josie and Rose and accepting of her father, Ross, when it was determined that he and Josie would marry.
From the beginning, Josie and Harrison seemed like a perfect match. As individuals, they were happier than they'd ever been. It all seemed too good to be true to Josie. And for Harrison, too.
How could everything go so bad so quickly? Harrison was tolerating more than his share of growing pains and Josie felt very guilty. Was there a way to make this blended family work? Or would Josie be forced to take her niece and her father and go back to New York?

I loved reading about the connection between Josie and Harrison. It seemed believable and tender. Their deeper love at first sight was so sweet!I showed reading about Josie's optimism in the face of trials. It was encouraging.
However, I felt that Ross's behavior upon arriving in Montana while it was explained, it wasn't resolved. I was left hanging. Hoping for a happy resolution, but don't get anything.
The trip that Harrison and Josie take prior to marriage seemed a bit far fetched too. I mean, where did they sleep on this journey? Did they have adequate chaperones to preserve her reputation? Those questions were never addressed, so we just have more unknowns.
On a steaminess level I would rate this a pleasant G. Because of the moment of violence, overall it's a high PG.
I don't think I'll be rereading this one. Not a repeat read.

Too short and simplistic with characters that feel like cardboard puppets. They're flat and the author pulls their strings. I need characters who come alive and demand their stories be told.
A good quick read and I enjoyed reading it. I like mail-order bride stories. Young-at-heart stories make me feel young again.
Too over-the-top in story development.
The romance was too easy
The father's actions were too much for a mill manager to pull in the first place.
Too many minor errors.
Not too enjoyable a read. At least for me.
While this is a sweet story it does not hide from the tough part of life, grief. It truly is a story of grief as much as it is a story of true love. The kind of love that conquers all. The is a page turned that you will read in one sitting.
this was a very good book and I really enjoyed reading it alot. All of the characters were likeable and it was a fast paced easy reading story for a warm summer day sitting on the porch enjoying an ice tea. I highly recommend this as it is Annie Boone writing which is always entertaining.
She lost her mother, sister-in-law, brother & in a sense, her father via grief. But she had to continue on in life because of her niece, who she was now responsible for raising at her young age. A woman suggested she become a mail order bride, without telling her father until a few days before she left. The groom hadn't thought about a ready made family, but he's so smitten with her letters that he sends for them, including her father, who doesn't want to go. And he sure lets everyone know he isn't happy about leaving New York for Montana or about his daughter being a mail order. Clean, wholesome, sweet, Godly romance of a woman enduring through pain when she wants to give up.
After losing her mother, her dear sister-in-law, and her brother, Josie needed a change. When she had a chance to write a Montana rancher and then to travel there to meet him, she took it. She also took her little niece and her bitter father with her. Never had she guessed her father would try to take over.
I thought the book’s description to be somewhat misleading. At no time did anyone think about Josie returning to New York. Although it was a sweet read, there seemed to be something missing. Harrison and Josie hit it off too perfectly, which didn’t make for much of a plot, Rose was just there, and Josie’s father was the only problem, but he couldn’t keep her from Harrison. The novella ended at 90%, making it 145 pages, but it seemed much shorter and somewhat shallow.
