This murder mystery mixed with spiritual fantasy is so well written! It had me "on the edge of my seat" from page one! The creative word choices allowed me to create a vivid picture of the scenes being described. I loved it!
What a buffet! Mystery, intrigue, metaphysics and all types of sisterhood. Great character development and plot. This book offers insights and healing as Becky (protagonist) recovers from her sister's untimely death. Jones brings travel to life with her descriptions. So many small offerings that make you want to have a conversation. I especially loved Jones' approach to spiritual concepts and experiences. An underground sisterhood of renegade nuns and eternal women... yes! Great read, I loved it.
I enjoyed the author's strong sense of place (Denver, CO and Long Beach, CA) and the inclusion of details from real-life murders in Colorado along with the murder mystery in the book. The author's writing style is appealing and created strong female characters, including the murdered sister, but I didn't find Mack (the sister's husband) to be a particularly believable character and had trouble getting into the book the first few chapters but then got much more intrigued once the mystical sisterhood characters appeared. Sisterhood is explored on many levels.
